Neal co-invented the original Filligent™ technology platform in 1994. He is a noted inventor and technologist. He was born in Australia and completed his Science Degree in Solid State Physics and Engineering Electronics at Melbourne University. He has lived in Hong Kong since 1969 and in that time has built three highly successful companies from ground up, all of which operate in highly competitive, high tech, commodity sectors. Neal’s specialty is the development and commercialization of intellectual property and technology. He is a dedicated, deeply experienced, hands-on operator with a wide spectrum of technology disciplines that includes atomic state physics, solid state electronics, semiconductor design, chemistry, analogue systems and control as well as computer systems and components simulation. He also has an extensive business background in high volume manufacturing, cost driven innovations, automated product testing and quality, and semiconductor design.
Neal’s business philosophy is focused on maintaining close customer relationships and building strong teams that are dedicated to implementing his vision. He is constantly expanding and improving Filligent’s technology and applications, while driving down costs. In 1971, Neal co-founded the multi-national corporation, Astec International Ltd (www.astecpower.com). Astec develops and manufactures low-cost, high efficiency switching power supplies for the computer industry. It employs 15,000 people and is now the crown jewel asset of Emerson Electric.
An Australian, Neal has lived in Hong Kong for 40 years.
