MELISSA MOWBRAY-D'ARBELA
(CEO, CO-FOUNDER)

Melissa has been the CEO of Filligent since 2001, where she focuses on strategic and policy issues, providing the Company’s vision and direction. She is fiercely dedicated to Filligent's mission, constantly urging our team to deliver timely, effective, ethical and pragmatic tools for disease interventions. She is particularly concerned with the health plight of those in developing nations. Her vision, personal background and career in ethical investing, finance and law make Melissa an ideal person to guide Filligent.

Melissa continues to conduct pro bono work at Filligent, assisting disempowered and under-privileged people. She is co founder of PathFinders, a pioneering organization that helps undocumented migrant women and children in Hong Kong find a safe and legal way home (www.pathfinders.org.hk). PathFinders™ works at both a grass roots and government policy level to improve the rights of this "invisible" sector of society. Using this strategy to open doors permanently, many benefit from the one. Melissa currently serves as a member of the board of Mother’s Choice, a community organization helping pregnant women and babies in Asia Pacific. She also spearheads their advocacy group, formed to recognize and improve the rights of children in Hong Kong.

Prior to founding Filligent, Melissa worked as a corporate lawyer at Skadden Arps in the US and Asia, an investment banker at Lehman Brothers in Asia and a private equity investor at GE Equity. In 2000, Melissa co-founded Maven International, an ethical private equity investment fund and advisor. In all of her incarnations, she formulates and executes coherent business strategies in a humane and decisive manner.

An Australian, Melissa has lived in Hong Kong for 15 years.
